EMSSIGWorkshop2012, July 04, 2012 |
|
EMSSIG (The BMSS) with ACDLabs, ALMSCO Int. and several other companies in conjunction with Prof. Chris Smith (MMU) have now arranged the EMSSIGWorkshop in 2012 which was unfortunately postponed in 2011. The meeting will be held at the Manchester Food Research Centre, MMU on July 04, 2012.
There has been support for a re-convening of the meeting and Eric De Wulf (Gent) has expressed an opinion with some very appropriate remarks about the topic "Improving the productivity in environmental & food screening using LC-MS and GC-MS" Many European laboratories are struggling with the problem to analyse the WFD priority substances in the whole water bodies. European Authorities are working on this issue including JRC/NORMAN. It has been decided to start an information exchange platform on European level within the WFD implementation strategy as part of the WG E/Chemical Monitoring activities. The first stage is a questionnaire about screening analytical_screening_techniques_for_wfd___questionnaire_20_7_2011 . Eric de Wulf is also willing to give a presentation on "Monitoring work under WFD and the instrumentation used".
A provisional leaflet for the workshop emssigworkshopleaflet221211 is available for viewing and downloading. It is hoped that the response in 2012 will be sufficient to enable the Workshop to be held.

13:00 Workshops
Three interactive workshops will be held in the afternoon. Workshops will be rotated so that all sessions can
be attended if desired. As part of these workshops, representatives from Support and Service will be
conducting a user Q and A session. Bring some questions along!
Workshop One: Introducing Differential Ion Mobility in Food Analysis
For any application requiring the separation of isobaric species, isolation of challenging co-eluting
contaminants and reduction of high background noise the SelexION™ technology with the QTrap® 5500
system delivers a new dimension of selectivity and performance.
Workshop Two: The Use of Accurate Mass in Screening Samples for Contaminants
Attendees will be shown the application of accurate mass instrumentation in food and environmental analysis
and the use of automated library searching with enhanced confirmation features
Workshop Three: Solutions for multi-residue pesticide analysis
A complete solution for mass spectrometry based pesticide analysis; the new iDQuant kit in conjunction with
the pesticide iMethod and MultiQuant software.
16:00 Wrap-up session and closing remarks
