The ANAMEC website news

Dear Members,

The virtual Environmental Mass Spectrometry conference VEMS2009 has been postponed. The idea was to use the VEMS meeting as an interim to the next proposed EMS meeting in 2010.  Suggested themes for the meeting, were to include, for instance, nanotechnology for environmental applications and water analysis.  This on-line activity would have allowed us to arrange the topics and themes of the real conference more appropriately to cover current and future trends.  The format of the forum has been exemplified by using data from the real meeting EMS2008. The VEMS2009 forum will be maintained on line for the time being for viewing by registered members.

Let me know if you have any interest in this activity for the future and if you have any suggestions as to the format and themes.  The success of the on-line event is dependent upon the interest shown by the Environmental Mass Spectrometry Special Interest Group and website members and will indicate whether it is appropriate to organise a further meeting in the EMS series in 2010.  Your cooperation in holding an the on-line and real meetings in the future would be most welcome.

Best wishes,

The administrator
