 EMS2010 The 5th National Meeting on Environmental Mass Spectrometry, University of Chester, March 24, 2010

                              

The EMS2010 meeting was successfully held on March 24, 2010 and the organisers wish to thank most sincerely all the speakers, exhibitors and delegates for their participation and attendance. A report has been forwarded to Alice Laures, editior of Mass Matters for inclusion in the next issue of the BMSS periodical (download to view massmatters110510 ). Also an article on the EMS2010 meeting will appear in Labmate edited by Bernie Monaghan.

 

The results of the EMS2010 questionnaire are available for viewing and downloading as appropriate. ems2010questionnaire070710  Approximately 25% of delegates reponded to the questionnaire.

 

A poster on the environmental mass spectrometry special interest group (EMSSIG)- a review with recommendations for the future will be presented at the BMSS2010 meeting in Cardiff, September 05 to 08, 2010.

5th National EMS2010 Conference Highlights

The EMS2010 conference was held, March 24, 2010 ,and the theme for the meeting was current trends in the Applications of Mass Spectrometry to Environmental and Food Matrix Analysis.  The meeting was jointly convened by the Environmental Mass spectrometry and Food & Nutrition Special Interest Groups of the BMSS and formed part of a conference week of three meeting, March 22 - 26, 2010 organised at the University of Chester by Prof. Chris Smith, covering also Nanotechnology & Food, and, Food Science & Technology.

 

Plenary Lecture

Dr Enrico Davoli of the Capo Laboratorio Spettrometria di Massa Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche "Mario Negri", Milan, presented the plenary lecture entitled A Review of Advanced MS Techniques in environmental studies: advantages and current limitations’.
